Nominations Sought for DLF Advisory Subcommittee

CLIR is seeking nominations for appointment to a new Digital Library Federation (DLF) Advisory Subcommittee. The subcommittee will advise the DLF director on matters relating to program activity and initiatives, budget, and strategy. Members will serve two-year terms.

When the DLF was reintegrated with CLIR in 2009, an ad hoc advisory committee was formed to guide the transition. To ensure continued success of the DLF as a CLIR program, CLIR’s Board of Directors decided last fall to make the ad hoc DLF advisory committee a formal subcommittee of the CLIR Board. This decision coincided with the conclusion of current advisory committee members’ terms.

The new DLF Advisory Subcommittee will include current CLIR Board members as well as two or three non-Board representatives from the broader DLF community. We invite members of the DLF community to contribute names of potential subcommittee members. Once nominations are collected, a list of names will be sent back to the community for a vote. The top 5 names will be put forward to CLIR’s Executive Board, which will make the final selection of the DLF Advisory Subcommittee.

Having active DLF community members engaged in the DLF governance will ensure the program remains viable and relevant. Not only will DLF at-large members contribute to the success of the DLF program, but they will also gain a better understanding of CLIR’s governance and operations.

Please send your nominations to Jena Winberry, at jwinberry [at] clir.org with the subject heading “Nomination” by Friday, February 17, 2012. Please include the nominee’s name, organization affiliation, and contact information.
