Mountain West Digital Library Digital Metadata Librarian
Full consideration date extended to April 8, 2016
The Mountain West Digital Library (MWDL) seeks an energetic, innovative, and accomplished professional for the position of Digital Metadata Librarian. This is an excellent opportunity to work with collaborative and enthusiastic colleagues who are dedicated to building services for digital libraries and archives. Hosted at the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, along with the rest of the MWDL staff, this position serves the Mountain West region as a key part of the MWDL Service Hub for the Digital Public Library of America, which aggregates metadata from partnering libraries, museums, and archives in six states for sharing both regionally via the MWDL portal at http://mwdl.org/ and nationally via the DPLA portal at http://dp.la/.
MWDL provides a search portal for digital materials in a variety of formats, including photographs, maps, artworks, videos, animations, oral histories, pioneer diaries, finding aids, scholarly publications, teaching presentations, vital records, government publications, and sounds of the West. Partners include academic libraries, public libraries, museums, archives, historical societies, and government agencies. The partners collaborate to establish interoperability standards for metadata and online harvesting and to share expertise and resources via a regional hub system of 19 repositories.
This is a three-quarters-time non-tenure-track career-line faculty position funded for a minimum of one year. Preferred consideration will be given to all applications received by Friday, April 8, 2016.
