MCN Cross-Pollinator Fellow: Abigail Shelton

We’re happy to share that next week, DLF community member Abigail Shelton (@aecshelton) is heading to the Museum Computer Network meeting in Denver, CO with support from a GLAM Cross-Pollinator Registration Award. This year the conference’s theme is Humanizing the Digital: investigating how museums can use technology to foster human connection and dialogue, advance accessibility and inclusion, and champion inquiry and knowledge.

About the Awardee

Abigail Shelton is an Outreach Specialist for the Mellon Foundation Library-Museum Collaboration Grant project at the University of Notre Dame. The project aims to build a unified digital space for cultural heritage collections at the university and her role is to work in between users and software developers. Ms. Shelton earned an MSLIS from Drexel University in 2018 and also has an M.A. in American History from Binghamton University, SUNY.  She previously worked at the American Philosophical Society Library in Philadelphia, PA. You can find her on Twitter at @aecshelton. Look out for her reflection about attending MCN later this fall!

Upcoming opportunities

Since 2015 (and initially with support from the Kress Foundation), the GLAM Cross-Pollinator Registration Awards have aimed to foster communication and conversation among the GLAM communities.  Each year, a member from each of our partner organizations receives free registration to attend the DLF Forum and, in exchange, a DLF member affiliate attends each partner conference. Learn more about those who attended the 2018 DLF Forum in Las Vegas, Nevada.

DLF would like to thank our partners at the Visual Resources Association, the Museum Computer Network and the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works for participating in this program.

Students, faculty, and staff from DLF member institutions are eligible to apply for upcoming opportunities! Registration awards are still available for the annual meetings of the AIC and VRA in 2019. Apply now!
