Job Description

The Claremont Colleges Library seeks an energetic, innovative, knowledgeable, and productive librarian to be its Original Cataloging and Metadata Team Leader (OCMTL). This position offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong communication, collaboration, organizational, technical, and management skills to contribute to a dynamic library environment. The OCMTL ensures that the Claremont Colleges Library’s (CCL) information resources are described and discoverable. The OCMTL supervises and leads a team of two catalogers, as well as students, to support metadata creation for information resources in all formats, with a focus on primary materials. The OCMTL is responsible for compliance with metadata standards and coordinates training for work as applied to the library’s needs.

Qualifications

Requirements include an MLIS degree from an accredited ALA program or equivalent combination of education and experience in a closely related field, plus strong communication, collaboration, and technology skills. Three years’ experience in cataloging or metadata creation in an academic or research library is also required.
