National Digital Library Federation changes its name
At its meeting in September, 1997, the Advisory
Committee of the National Digital Library Federation dropped the
word "National" from the name of the organization. The purpose of
the change is twofold. First, it is meant to emphasize that the
Federation is not an organization of the U.S. government. Second,
it is intended to eliminate the possible implication that the
work of the Federation is aimed at building a digital library
infrastructure that has national boundaries.
